Message from the Committee.

The Liskeard and District u3a, which was formed more than 25 years ago, is one of about 1,000 u3a's in the country with a combined membership of over 400,000. Internationally, it also has a considerable following with activity in several countries.

u3a stands for the University of the Third Age. It is a global self-help organisation for those no longer in full-time paid employment and is where older people share life skills and experiences and exchange knowledge and nurture talents.

Our u3a holds 11 general meetings a year, usually with an external guest speaker, and has about 25 activity groups covering a wide range of interests. Our general meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every month, unless otherwise stated, at the Public Hall in Liskeard, commencing at 10.15am.

In addition to local activities you will be able to access, through the internet, the National u3a Site which offers access to talks, activities and on-line groups. More information and guidance about this will usually be available at general meetings.

If you are interested in joining Liskeard and District u3a you have the option of attending a general meeting where you will be met by a 'Welcomer' who will explain how things work. You will also be able to meet committee members and you can join there and then. Alternatively, you can reach us through the contacts page.

Notes.

1. Members can attend a general meeting as a 'taster' before joining. Regretably, attendance at extermal events and visits by non-members is not permitted. This is to ensure compliance with insurance requirements.
2. Once you have joined please remember to take your membership card to every meeting.
