U3A Skittles Group Leader Martyn Cox

The U3A Skittles Group is an open group and all U3A members can join in. Two Skittles Social Evenings are usually held each year in March or April and October or November. Members sign up for the event usually at the two U3A monthly meetings beforehand. Spaces are limited due to the venue capacity, so early booking is recommended to avoid disappointment.

The next U3A Skittles Night will be held on Friday 27 March 2026

Tickets will be on sale at the February U3A meeting, with any remaining tickets available at the March meeting.

There were late fireworks at the latest Liskeard U3A Skittles night at Liskeard Bowling Club on Friday 7 November with a number of close finishes on an exciting night of Skittles, pasties and music.

The Men's competition was settled by a spare or strike worth 16 pins on the final end by organiser Martyn Cox to take the trophy with 59 pins from 7 ends; whilst in the Ladies' competition, Jackie Sutton and Chris Cox both finished on 50 pins and it required a sudden-death play-off in an extra end before Jackie emerged the clear winner of the Ladies trophy.

As usual, all competitors are divided at random into 4 teams for the night and it was another close contest in the Team competition. Although the Blue team ended the Skittles section slightly ahead, the Yellow team outscored everyone else on the musical questions based on the 1985 Live Aid Concert to take the overall team prize.

Afterwards, trophies and prizes were kindly presented by U3A Chair Howard Milkins.
